A Night at the York Theatre Royal: Small Audience, Superb Talent!!

After a packed day of work in Leeds, I hopped in the car to the historic York Theatre Royal. There is nothing I love more than supporting phenomenal theatre, especially as Ghostlight is a York-based agency.

My destination? The world premiere of The Psychic.

Small Crowd, Big Performances

The production itself was absolutely wonderful. Written and directed by the brilliant duo Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman (the geniuses behind Ghost Stories, which I’ve seen 4 times when I used to live in London!), it's a twisty, gripping psychological thriller that keeps you guessing.

The cast and crew were brilliant, which made it all the more disappointing that the audience was on the thin side the evening I attended. Alongside the phenomenal leads, both Eileen Walsh and Megan Placito delivered incredibly solid performances that held the stage beautifully.

It’s always a shame when great work doesn't get the packed house it deserves, but a huge well done to the writers, directors, the fantastic cast, and the entire team at York Theatre Royal for a stellar show regardless.

Starstruck (Again)

The highlight of the night for me? Frances Barber. I’ve been an admirer of her work for years, and seeing her command the stage once again was a masterclass in acting. I am still completely enamoured by her after all these years—she is a true icon of the industry.

If you are near York, please do get down to the Theatre Royal and support this brilliant production.

Local venues and local agencies thrive when our community fills those seats!
