From the West End to Norfolk: A Dash for 'Posh' by Laura Wade
My talent-spotting marathon didn't end at the Criterion. As soon as the curtain fell on the ArtsEd showcase, I was on the train to Bedford then back in the car and heading east to Norwich University of the Arts.
The mission? To catch their production of ‘Posh’ by ‘Laura Wade’.
Strong Voices in Norwich
The drive across was an "interesting" journey in itself, having to say goodbye to the famous and sadly missed ‘Black Cat Roundabout’. Having once lived in Cambridgeshire, the journey was filled with nostalgia, a look forward to the new terrain and road. The performance at the end of it was more than worth the mileage. I was originally invited by two graduating students, but I walked away with a handful of names that really impressed me. The level of focus and the strength of the performances from these students were genuinely powerful and wonderful.
Reconnecting and Looking Forward
One of the highlights was reconnecting with one of the course lecturers who actually taught me! It’s always a pleasure to bridge that gap between my own training and the new generation of performers.
I’m currently in the process of reaching out to those standout students and will be continuing conversations with the university over the coming weeks.
There is some incredible potential in Norwich, and I’m excited to see where these discussions lead.
