Following on from a brilliant week packed with auditions and the sheer energy of Can You Dance?, this week has been another whirlwind of travel, connecting with incredible creatives, and witnessing top-tier theatre.
Braving the Yorkshire Rain
On Tuesday, the weather was absolutely dreadful, but torrential rain wasn't going to stop me heading over to Wakefield. I had the pleasure of watching Thunder Road Theatre Company perform at Theatre Royal Wakefield, starring my wonderfully talented friend Alex Moran and writer and director Ryan Simons. Both of them were awesome, and the production was packed with brilliant work, theatre magic and jump scares. If you ever get the chance to catch their shows, do not hesitate—go and see them!
London Networking
By Thursday, it was time to head down to London for a networking event. It’s always invaluable to get into a room filled with passionate actors, creatives, and industry peers, putting faces to names and building relationships for the agency.
A True Masterclass in Dorking
Friday was undeniably the emotional highlight of the week. Ghostlight talent Jessica Ivy and I travelled out to Dorking Halls to watch a production called Learning How to Dive, produced by Damn Cheek Productions (a wonderful CIC).
The play was written and performed by Brendan Murray—who was our acting teacher during our training days at Drama Studio London—and expertly directed by Willie Elliott. It also featured brilliant, standout performances from Darren Cheek and Karen Spicer.
Watching Brendan on stage was a true masterclass. He embodied every single technique, discipline, and piece of craft that he and the other tutors at DSL instilled in us years ago. Seeing a mentor demonstrate everything he taught in action alongside such a strong ensemble was deeply moving and inspiring. Plus, it was fantastic to have that quality time catching up with Jessica!
Reset and Ready
The clocks went back an hour today, giving me that little bit of extra breathing room.
Heading into the new week rested, inspired, and raring to go with plenty more exciting news lined up for next Sunday.
Have a fantastic week, everyone!
