The Highs of the West End and the Lows of travelling from the North: An Agent’s Journey
Last week, I made the trip down from Yorkshire to London for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) BA (Hons) Acting Musical Theatre Graduate Showcase.
Spotting the Stars of Tomorrow
There is a specific kind of energy you only find at a graduate showcase. The talent on display was nothing short of phenomenal. It’s a privilege to watch these performers right at the start of their professional journeys, and I walked away with a notebook full of names and a lot of excitement for the future of the industry.
The highlight of the trip was watching these graduates in action. The future of musical theatre is in very safe (and very talented) hands!
The Journey Home: A Different Kind of Drama
While the journey down was smooth sailing, the trip back to Yorkshire was, to put it mildly, a nightmare.
What should have been a straightforward run turned into a saga of:
Delays that turned into cancellations.
An unexpected "scenic" tour of Peterborough.
A very, very late-night arrival home.
It’s all part of the job, but let’s just say the glamour of being an agent wears off a bit when you’re standing on a cold platform in Peterborough at midnight!
